A supplier badge can help you find a candidate while leaving your payment route and refund eligibility unresolved. For Made-in-China vs Alibaba, compare discovery tools, assessment reports, and protected-order requirements separately before choosing individual sellers. This guide turns the publishers’ pages checked on October 19, 2026 into a buyer record for those checks.
What changes between the two platforms?
Made-in-China.com describes Audited Suppliers and a separate Secured Trading Service; Alibaba.com describes Verified Suppliers and a separate Trade Assurance order route. The assessment label helps you investigate a company. The transaction route determines which order and payment steps you need to check.

| Buyer check | Made-in-China.com | Alibaba.com | Dominant Failure Mode & Prevention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Find candidates | Buyer help describes keyword search, Post Sourcing Request, and filters for supplier type, minimum order, and price. | The verification page describes Verified Supplier icons across search results, listings, and profiles, plus verification-oriented search and filters. | Treating a discovery signal as protection. Record how you found the seller separately from how the order will be placed. |
| Open the company assessment | Audited Supplier reports follow document and on-site checks; the program page says reports are available online free. | Verified Supplier assessments cover company profile, capabilities, products, and process controls, with downloadable reports. | Comparing badge names alone. Open the actual reports and compare entity, site, scope, assessor, and date where supplied. |
| Enter the transaction route | The buyer FAQ identifies Secured Trading products by the Trade Guarantee mark and Start Order button; payment goes to the platform first. | The public Trade Assurance flow starts with an order agreement on Alibaba.com and payment through Alibaba.com. | Paying against a conversation without establishing the order route. Verify the order record and payment instructions before transfer. |
| Check the remedy for these goods | The FAQ says refunds for customized products are unsupported, though the seller may negotiate a refund. | Easy Return and after-sales services have eligibility conditions; the public pages do not establish every order’s terms. | Assuming identical remedies for every listing. Check the product, buyer, destination, and order-specific conditions before payment. |

Use the China wholesale websites guide for the broader choice of purchasing route. Here, the decision is narrower: can you document each platform’s assessment and transaction requirements for the goods you plan to buy?
How should you compare supplier reports?
Read the report behind the badge, starting with the company and location assessed. Made-in-China.com names SGS, Bureau Veritas, TÜV Rheinland, and CTI as audit partners. Alibaba.com’s verification page also names SGS, alongside Intertek and TÜV Rheinland. SGS involvement is not exclusive to Made-in-China.com. These are program descriptions; identify the assessor on each candidate’s report. See the publishers’ audit program and verification program.
Made-in-China.com’s linked SGS report sample has a large Sample watermark. Its cover names fields for report number, audit date, holder, registered address, actual address, and auditor. General Information adds audited site and product scope. Use those field names to navigate a candidate’s real report; the sample’s company details and figures provide no evidence of that candidate’s performance.
For each candidate, record the assessed entity, the site visited, the product scope, the assessor, and the report date where supplied. Then compare that scope with the business and goods in the offer. An unfilled or mismatched field is a question to resolve before relying on the assessment.
Keep company assessment separate from product compliance and acceptance of your production lot. This is an editorial distinction between scopes: Made-in-China.com’s FAQ describes optional product inspection separately from the audit program. Alibaba.com’s verification disclaimer says independent third parties conduct assessments; Alibaba does not guarantee seller product or certificate authenticity, or take responsibility for assessment information’s accuracy or timeliness. Samples, product documents, and shipment acceptance therefore remain separate seller checks.
What moves a candidate into a protected-order route?
Check the listing and actual order before paying. An assessment report does not establish transaction eligibility.
For Made-in-China.com, the Secured Trading FAQ identifies eligible products with a Trade Guarantee mark and Start Order button and describes a Secured Trading product filter. It distinguishes sending inquiries from using Secured Trading: in the latter, payment goes to Made-in-China.com first. The same FAQ says it does not support refunds for customized products, although a buyer may negotiate with the seller. Resolve that limitation before treating a custom order as having the refund path you need.
For Alibaba.com, the Trade Assurance overview describes agreeing an order on Alibaba.com, paying through Alibaba.com, holding payment in escrow until receipt and confirmation, and assistance with order issues. A seller’s Verified Supplier icon does not substitute for those transaction steps. The overview also qualifies certain payment and after-sales services by buyer or product eligibility.
As a buyer decision rule, pause payment when the actual order, payment route, or required remedy remains unclear. Save the order’s product description, agreed acceptance requirements, service eligibility, and payment instructions so you can compare the same scope across candidates. This record is editorial advice, rather than a platform-mandated form.
Which event starts the refund clock?
Record the trigger alongside the deadline. The public pages use different events, including receiving products, confirming receipt, and service closure. These events cannot be substituted for one another.
Made-in-China.com’s Secured Trading FAQ contains distinct provisions:
- Its benefit text describes applying for a refund within 30 days after receiving products for delivery or product issues.
- Its quality or not-as-described provision describes asking the seller for a refund within 30 natural days after confirmation of receipt, with evidence.
- Its embedded dispute rules require a dispute settlement application no later than 30 days after the Secured Trading Service is closed or completed.
Alibaba.com’s money-back policy describes a standard refund window of 30 days from delivery, with 60 days from delivery for Enterprise and Enterprise Pro buyers. Its separate Easy Return description gives 30 days from delivery, for eligible orders under USD 3,000 in listed destinations, including the United States, subject to full eligibility requirements. That amount qualifies Easy Return; it is not a universal Trade Assurance coverage ceiling.
Keep Made-in-China.com’s customized-product limitation beside any refund note. On Alibaba.com, check whether the order supports Easy Return and whether your buyer status qualifies for the longer standard window. A published application window does not promise that a claim will succeed.
What should be in your platform comparison record?
Complete one record for each candidate before comparing individual sellers:
- Discovery: platform, listing URL, and search or filter route used.
- Assessment: report link or saved copy, assessed entity, site, product scope, assessor, and date where supplied.
- Order eligibility: the available service for these goods, including customization and destination conditions.
- Payment route: the platform order reference and instructions for paying through the described service.
- Remedy: the applicable condition, event that starts its clock, deadline, and supporting records you need to retain.
If an assessment matches the company but the order route remains unresolved, keep the seller as a candidate while you resolve the transaction question. If the route is available but the report covers a different site or product scope, resolve the assessment question. These checks support a seller comparison without assigning an overall platform ranking.
Return to the sourcing guides for the next buying decision once the platform record is complete.
Method and source limits
Wholesale Sourced compiled the publisher pages checked on October 19, 2026; no accounts or orders were tested. The sources describe discovery, assessment, and public transaction requirements. They do not establish an individual seller’s performance or a cross-platform inquiry-conversion comparison.
The SGS PDF is a watermarked sample used only for field identification. Alibaba.com’s recovered money-back and Trade Assurance pages are public summaries; a linked rule-center shell did not provide a complete contract in the research capture. Check the terms shown for your actual order before relying on a remedy.
